A new season is upon us with new films and projects ranging from eye-opening biopics to superheroes fighting in space. Summer has been very eventful for the movie industry, from the release of blockbuster successes such as Greta Gerwig’s Barbie and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer to the WGA/SAG-AFTRA strike that put the entire industry on hold. But now, we can finally welcome the new season, starting with looking forward to the most anticipated movies in November.
As Olivia Rodrigo would say, it has been “up and down” this summer. We got very, very excited about the many great movies released, but the strike has put a damper on the entire movie industry. However, now that the WGA has finally reached a fair deal with AMPTP (We’re rooting for you, SAG!), writers can go back to writing rooms to give us great movies and TV shows to look forward to!

Priscilla (2023)
Directed by: Sophia Cappola
Starring: Cailee Spaeny and Jacob Elordi
Release Date: 3 November 2023
We know what you’re thinking: “Didn’t we get a movie about Elvis last year?!” Yes, yes, we did. But this movie is not about Elvis Presley. It’s about Priscilla Presley. The upcoming biopic, directed by the renowned Sophia Cappola and based on Priscilla Peresely’s memoir, will be released this November. The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival this summer to rave critical reviews, making it one of the most anticipated movies this November!
Lots of exciting talk has been revolving around this movie, including the fact that the Elvis Estate is not happy with it! If they thought that expressing their discontent with the film would make it badly perceived, they were wrong! Priscilla has definitely piqued people’s interests even more and made everyone excited to see what the iconic wife of the King of Rock and Roll has to say about her own story.
We get many biopics about icons from the lens of people who worshipped or despised them. It’s rare to get a glimpse into the life of the people who lived with them, who had good and bad things to say about the humans they were and how it affected everyone around them. Elvis was a force, and Priscilla was affected by it first-hand. There is no better person to tell that story than Sophia Cappola, and we cannot wait to see the film in November!
The Killer (2023)
Directed by: David Fincher
Starring: Michael Fassbender, Tilda Swinton, and Kerry O’Malley
Release Date: 10 November 2023
Lots of killers this autumn! From Martin Scorsese‘s Killers of the Flower Moon and now David Fincher’s The Killer! While Scorsese’s film isn’t about an actual killer, David Fincher is giving us a dark thriller film about an assassin on a killing rampage starring Michael Fassbender.
The film premiered during the Venice Film Festival this summer in the gorgeous Italian city and has received good reviews from critics. The film has been called “predictable’’ and “daring” at the same time while praising the great collaborative work between Fincher and Fassbender. David Fincher is known for creating intriguing and thought-provoking thrillers; think Zodiac and Gone Girl! We sure hope The Killer will be just as good. As of now, it’s definitely one of our most anticipated movies in November!
If you are up for a dark, thrilling story where you can’t tell right from wrong and are always on the edge of your seat, then The Killer might be the perfect movie for you! We don’t expect anything less than brilliant from David Fincher, so you know we will be seated for the film on 10 November.
The Marvels (2023)
Directed by: Nia DeCosta
Starring: Brie Larson, Iman Vellani, and Teyonah Parris
Release Date: 10 November 2023
MCU fans, get ready for yet another and final Marvel movie this year! Originally, Marvel had planned to release five films in 2023 but ended up only releasing Ant-Man: Quantummani and Guardians of Galaxy Vol. 3, with other films being postponed for later dates.
Their final film for 2023 is a sequel to 2019’s Captain Marvel. Although the story takes place many years after the first movie’s events, we follow Captain Marvel, Kamala Khan, and Monica Rambeau as they deal with a tangled situation and their powers. Being an MCU film already makes The Marvels a highly anticipated movie. However, being their first all-female team-up film makes it even more anticipated!
The best thing about The Marvels is that it will feature multiple heroes at the same time (we sure do miss The Avengers!). The team-up between the all-powerful Captain Marvel, the young, energetic Ms. Marvel and the always-professional Monica Rambeau will surely be interesting and exciting! Say what you will about the MCU, but no one can deny that it always gets people excited to go to the cinema!
The Hunger Games: A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (2023)
Directed by: Francis Lawrence
Starring: Tom Blyth, Rachel Zegler, Peter Dinklage, Hunter Schafer, and Viola Davis
Release Date: 17 November 2023
Are you ready to go back to Panem? 2023 is like a remake of 2014 with a new Hunger Games movie coming out and Taylor Swift’s re-releasing her pop sensation album 1989! We feel like we travelled back in time! But we won’t have it any other way! The upcoming Hunger Games film, A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, is a prequel to the Katniss Everdeen story we know and love, and we cannot wait to see it!
Francis Lawrence is coming back to direct The Hunger Games with an all-new cast that is set to take Panem by storm. The new movie is based on Suzanne Collins’s book of the same name and will show us how Coriolanus Snow became the bloodthirsty dictator we know. Everyone is on the edge of their seat for a new Hunger Games movie, and it’s easily one of the most anticipated movies in November. If you want to learn more about the film before its release, make sure to read our feature on it!
The Hunger Games: A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes will bring back the trend of dystopian stories that took over in the early 2010s. Even though we miss Katniss and Peeta, we cannot wait to see the new characters and learn more about the elusive President Snow. Make sure to watch the film in theatres when it comes out because if we go by how epic the previous Hunger Games movies were, then this movie will be a must-watch!
Next Goal Wins (2023)
Directed by: Taika Wiatiti
Starring: Michael Fassbender, Elisabeth Moss, and Will Arnett
Release Date: 17 November 2023
Micheal Fassbender is having a very busy month with not one but two films releasing in November! After David Fincher’s The Killer, Micheal is set to star in Taika Waititi’s movie Next Goal Wins. The film is based on the documentary of the same name and is Taika’s first film after last year’s Thor: Love and Thunder, which did not get favourable reviews from critics or audiences.
Based on the 2015 documentary with the same title, Next Goal Wins follows Thomas Rongen, a Dutch-American football coach, as he tries to train one of the worst football teams in the world! After a 31-0 loss to Australia in 2001 —the worst loss in international football history!, the American Samoa national team tries to redeem themselves in the 2014 World Cup Qualifiers. Sports drama films are always exciting to watch, and having it based on a true story makes this movie one of the most anticipated movies in November.
Audiences love films based on real events, and sports dramas have a great history of doing well in Award season. Will this film get Taika Waititi his second Adapted Screenplay Oscar win? We will have to wait and see! But for now, make sure to catch Next Goal Wins when it comes out in theatres this November.
Napoleon (2023)
Directed by: Ridley Scott
Starring: Joaquin Phoenix, Vanessa Kirby, and Tahar Rahim
Release Date: 22 November 2023
We told you November is giving us a very diverse set of films! For history lovers, Joaquin Phoenix and Ridley Scott are reuniting to deliver us an epic historical drama about the French General turned Emperor, Napoleon Bonaparte. Napoleon is a historical drama that follows the man’s rise into power through the lens of his wife, Joséphine.
The love story of Napoleon and Joséphine is known to the world as a volatile and obsessive love tale. Napoleon’s love for Joséphine was very intense and all-encompassing until it wasn’t. She was with him as he rose to power and saw his greed and power-chasing tendencies first-hand. The movie is set to be a historical masterpiece with many epic battle scenes courtesy of Ridley Scott. We cannot wait to see The Joker’s Joaquin Phoenix and The Crown’s Vanessa Kirby in this most anticipated film.
Napoleon will be coming out on 22 November 2023. Whether you are a history enthusiast or not, we are sure Napoleon will be a fantastic film, and you’ll enjoy it! The all-star cast paired with an astounding director known for his epic films makes Napoleon easily one of the most anticipated movies in November —and probably a strong competitor in this year’s Awards season.

Release Date: 22 November 2023
November didn’t even forget about the children! Everyone is getting a film this upcoming month. No one will be left behind! After 100 years of Disney celebration, Disney is finally making its comeback with its latest original animated feature, Wish. A new animated movie with a beautiful storybook watercolour style is about to hit theatres this November.
Afro-Latina Asha is the main character of the story and will be voiced by Academy Award winner Ariana DeBose. The story follows Asha as she works for King Magnifico, the only one with the power to make wishes come true. Asha then makes her own wish upon a star and gets more than she bargained for! The film will show us more about the popular storybook trope of wishing upon a star and the origin of this tale.
As all Disney animated films are, Wish is highly anticipated by children and adults alike! Not to mention that Asha will be the studio’s first Afro-Latina leading character and an excellent addition to the Disney princesses. Wish will be coming out on 22 November 2023, and it’s a perfect film to see with the whole family!
