In the Halloween season, it is more important than anything to pick the movie you are planning to watch. Don’t worry; we’ve got you covered! Grab your Autumn blanket and your hot chocolate, and get ready to watch some Halloween classics!

1. Halloween (1978)

It is convenient to start our list with the title that says it all! For generations, Michael Myers has been the absolute nightmare for those who watched any of the Halloween movie franchises! The plot follows Michael Myers, who escapes from an asylum and goes on his way searching for his next victim. Jaime Lee Curtis plays the role of Laurie Strode, who turns out to be Michael’s sister and also his target for the 13 movies in the franchise! A new trilogy of the franchise with the same name as the first movie was released in 2018, starring Jaimie Lee Curtis, followed by the sequel Halloween Kills in 2021, and the prequel Halloween ends in 2022.

2. Hocus Pocus (1993)

Hocus Pocus is a Halloween classic that never goes out of style! This witchy and fun-to-watch movie follows Max and his sister Dani after they move to Salem, Massachusetts, only to discover an abandoned house with their new friend, Allison. The house once belonged to three evil witches, played by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy, and Max accidentally frees their coven! To stop them from becoming immortal, the three teenagers must find the witches’ book of spells and put an end to this nightmare.

3. A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

One, two, Freddy’s coming for you. Just sing this to any adults or children who never even watched the movie, and they won’t be able to sleep for a while! Freddy Krueger is a former child’s killer who died when the parents of these children burnt him alive. However, Freddy found a way to take his revenge by living in the dream world, appearing in teenagers’ nightmares and killing them. A Nightmare on Elm Street comes in many movies and versions over the years, and the 1984 movie was directed by Wes Craven, and it paved the way for Jonny Depp‘s career.

4. The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)

It was a dark and stormy night when the newly engaged couple, Brad and Janet, got a broken-down car issue! They wanted to find a phone to call the road service, but there was nothing around. However, a while later, they found an isolated mansion, and they went in. The mansion belonged to Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry), and a little while later, he presented the couple to his newest creation, Rocky Horror (Peter Hinwood).

Dr. Frank-N-Furter turned out to be an alien from planet Transsexual in the Transylvania galaxy. This is not the most shocking thing in the movie. Frank kills a boy at the beginning of the movie, and his father comes looking for him while Brad and Janet are there! The movie became a halloween icon, and up till now, people from all over the world attend the movie show with a live cast where they can all be dressed up as the characters and interact with the cast!

5. Child’s Play (1988)

You better lock down all the dolls in your house before watching this one! Child’s play is not the same kind of horror you expect from A Nightmare on Elm Street. It is a good thriller mixed with comedy and horror. However, we guarantee you will never see your dolls the same after watching what Chucky is capable of doing. The plot follows a mother who buys her son (Andy) a doll (Chucky) that will later turn out to be possessed by the soul of a criminal called Charles Lee Ray.

However, we start seeing crimes without knowing who commits these crimes. All fingers are pointing at Andy, and the flow of events makes the audience almost convinced that Andy is really the one committing these crimes. In the other half of the movie, we see that Chucky might have something to do with that!

6. Beetlejuice (1988)

When a family moves into a new home, they find out that their house is haunted by the spirits of the couple who used to live there before them. This movie is perfect for a Halloween family night! You can never go wrong with Beetlejuice, even if you say his name three times! Tim Burton directed the movie, and among the cast are Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice, Winona Ryder as Lidia Deetz, Geena Davis as Barbara Maitland, and Alec Baldwin as Adam Maitland.

7. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)

When a group of friends head to rural Texas to visit the grave of one of their grandfathers, they discover what seems to be an empty house. However, there is something that lies in that house, ready to kill them all. Or, let’s say, leave them in pieces!

8. Night of the Living Dead (1968)

When corpses leave the graveyard in search of fresh human bodies to devour, a group of people desperately look for a refugee. They finally found their destination in an abandoned house. However, as the situation gets scarier and things go out of hand, the zombies outside find their way in and prey on the group, one by one.

9. Orphan (2009)

After a brutal miscarriage, Kate and her husband, John, decide to adopt a child. Little did they know that the girl they were going to adopt was, in fact, a psychopath with an unbelievable secret. In this movie, we follow Kate, John, and their two children as they test their survival skills in the face of their adopted child, Esther. Orphan is one of these movies that keeps you wondering for a while: what has just happened? When you put yourself in this family’s shoes, you cannot help but wonder how they are going to get over this.

10. Death Becomes Her (1992)

The plot follows Madeline (Meryl Streep), an actress obsessed with herself and her beauty, her alcoholic plastic surgeon husband, Ernest Menville, played by Bruce Willis, and her frenemy, Helen Sharp, played by Goldie Hawn. Helen was a novelist, and Madeline stole the love of her life. Years later, after Helen got out of the psychiatric hospital, she went to see Ernest and Madeline and to confront them about what they did to her, only this time, she looked surprisingly stunning!

Madeline wanted to know Helen’s secret and the reason behind her young and beautiful look. When she followed her, she found out that she went to a secret place where she got a type of drug that makes her immortal! In this fun and dark humour journey, we follow these two women as they experience immortality and its consequences.

11. Poltergeist (1982)

“They’re here.” run when you hear that! Poltergeist is one of those movies that will haunt your dreams for a while after watching it. The plot follows a family who live in a haunted suburban house. This classic horror film was written and produced by Steven Spielberg. The whole nightmare begins when Carol Anne, the youngest daughter, starts to hear whispering voices coming out of the TV, and only she can hear them. Carol starts answering these voices after getting so close to the TV and wakes up her family!

12. Get Out (2017)

Get Out views racism from a completely different and new perspective. This psychological horror is more than enough to keep you tied to your seat, speechless. The plot follows a young black man who goes with his white girlfriend to meet her family for the first time. What he experiences there is unbelievably horrifying!

13. M3GAN (2023)

M3GAN or Megan is a shortcut to hate future technologies and AI-related inventions! When a roboticist (Gemma) hears that her sister and her brother-in-law died in a car crash, her life changes forever. Gemma invents AI toys in the company she works for, and her whole life is dedicated to her career only. Now, she is in charge of Cady, her nine-year-old niece, and she has no idea how to take care of a child! In order to make this awkward situation easier, Gemma speeds up the process of creating a new AI doll, Model 3 Generative Android or M3GAN.

Megan found her way to Cady’s heart sooner than expected and became her sister and best friend. She definitely succeeded in doing the job Gemma was supposed to do; she cared for Cady, listened to her, and talked to her about her parent’s death, which is a topic Gemma always avoids. The relationship between Megan and Cady soon takes an obsessive turn when Megan becomes extremely protective of Cady to the point that she could kill for her!
